Tracey Blackburn takes over as producer, and persuades Steve Atkinson to join her, after a two-year holiday. Steve also appeared as a rather dopey villain called Boris, one of a trio alongside Steve and Luke Ledwood, who are are only slightly less daft. Steve did the part like Stan Laurel: apart from bit parts as dogs etc, he’d last appeared on stage in 2013. John Lake was originally cast as Boris, but decided to stand down
The Ugly Sisters, possibly the best roles in panto, were played Phil Wright (his 7th Dame) and Josh Milner
Ross Crowe retired as Chairman, to be replaced by Andy West. Ross has been involved for over 30 years, which included 22 appearances as The Dame. His last role on stage was as Dame Patty Potty in 2017’s Beauty and the Beast
Steve Eddison’s script from 2014 was used as a basis. Back then we didn’t use projections, so to change the heavy painted backcloths a black curtain was pulled across to hide what was happening, while a small scene was played in front (often interrupted by backstage noises!). Steve took the script apart and rebuilt it to get rid of these “front of tab” scenes, then updated it with more scenes. Tracey also contributed to several scenes, so the final author credit goes to Steve E, Steve A and Tracey together
The Cinderella “coach” which is put together piece by piece in the UV scene was first used in the 2014 production but had to be almost completely re-made, as time had not been kind to it!
